There were four sons in this family each of whom spelled their surname differently and their descendants do so today. The family migrated from Kentucky to Wayne County, Illinois. It is a large and very important Bobbitt family.

The families of Christian County are descendants of Isham and Elizabeth (James) Bobbitt of Warren County, North Carolina. They lived for a time in South Carolina and about 1805 moved to Kentucky. Isham and several of his children moved to Scott and Morgan counties in Illinois. Some members of this family lived in Trigg County, Kentucky. John above was a minister of the Gospel.

Isham Drury Bobbitt was a son of John and Lucy Jones Bobbitt. He married Catherine Meyers and reared a large family in Christian County. He has descendants in the county at the present time.
