Bobbitt Family Records

tween the races was illegal. In later years Frank Bobbitt served as a Captain in the Confederate Army. On February 10, 1851 Frank married Adaline S. Allen. On January 10, 1866, Frank married a widow named Mary L. Baker who was from Massachusetts.

 

MOORE COUNTY formed in 1784 from Cumberland County. In the 1820 census records, five families were listed in this county.

Haywood Bobbitt                     25 (1825) North Carolina

Haywood Bobbitt was a son of Thomas and Lucy (Moss) Bobbitt.

In this census record he was working on the farm of Thomas Wicker. His father and mother were listed in the census of Chatham County.

ORANGE COUNTY - formed in 1752 from Bladen, Granville, and Johnston counties.

Family # 1781, counted November 28, 1850, First District.

Arthur Bobbitt (overseer)         70 (1780) North Carolina 
Morrah Bobbitt                       40 (1810) North Carolina

Arthur Bobbitt was a son of Sion Bobbitt of Orange County.

Morrah Bobbitt was an unmarried daughter of Arthur Bobbitt. This was the only family listed in the 1850 census of Orange County.

We know that there were other Bobbitt families in the county at the time, but for some reason they were not listed.

 

TYRELL COUNTY - formed in 1729 from Bertie, Chowan, Currituck and Pasquotank counties.
