OHIO CENSUS OF 1850

The first of our Bobbitt family to move to Ohio was James Bobbitt who married Margaret Mann and lived in Highland County. Most of the Bobbitt families who moved to Ohio lived in Clinton County and Jackson County. They moved to Ohio in 1847 and 1848 from Pittsylvania County, Virginia.

James Bobbitt married Margaret Mann in Clinton County, on September 29, 1843. Margaret was from Campbell County, Kentucky.

We believe that Sarah Bobbitt was the widow of Lewis Bobbitt, and a brother to James Bobbitt of Highland County. Sarah is listed as head of household, although her son Edwin P. Bobbitt and his wife is living with her. Edwin and Rhoda Wright were married in Clinton County on March 3, 1843.

We know that Thomas and Mildred (Dalton) Bobbitt went to Ohio in 1848 but for some reason they were not counted in any Ohio census records.
