Elizabeth was a Bobbitt widow when she married Gilliam Hawks. Both families were from Grayson County, Virginia.
A careful check of the census records for the entire state of Ohio in 1850 revealed that the above were the only members of our family that can be positively identified.
Ohio had about fifteen other families who were Babbitt, Boblet, and Bobbott families with their origins in New England, German,,, or Austria.
While we feel that the Boblet families from Virginia are part of our Bobbitt family we have not been able to make the direct descendant connections.
Not all the information given in a census record is accurate. The persons giving the information sometimes do not know, and they guess at ages and places of birth. For these reasons we like to compare the records for at least two census years that follow each other.
