Green Bobbitt was born on January 8, 1811 in Warren County, North Carolina. He first married Isabella Owen of Fayette County, Tennessee, by whom he had a daughter, Isabella C. Bobbitt. On December 31, 1836 Green Bobbitt married his first wife's sister, Emarintha Owen. On December 16, 1845 Green married Sarah A. Plant, listed in the record above. Green W. Bobbitt died on May 5, 1860 in Fayette County. His brother John J. Bobbitt who was listed with Green in the 1840 census moved to Franklin County, Arkansas.
Two Bobbitt families lived in Gibson County. One was the family of James Bobbitt of Warren County, North Carolina. He was the son of Lewis and Mary Bobbitt. The other was a James Bobbitt of York County, South Carolina. He was a son of William and Susannah Bobbitt of Warren County, North Carolina. The two families were distantly related.
