Hi, Keith -

Martilla was married first to Samuel Stockton with whom she migrated to Texas.  Actually, I believe you have Martilla and Samuel's marriage record on your website!  Anyway, he died, and she then married a fellow "Peters Colonist" George Washington Glover.  She and he are my great-great-great grandparents, and what I wouldn't give for a portrait of them!  I have heard rumor that there may be one that exists in Dallas, but I haven't been able to get my hands on a copy.

 M. C. Toyer in Dallas is the man who knows the most about them, and one of the pages I have emailed to you is his article, which is also posted on Jim Wheat's Dallas County Archives website   (use the Search box for 'Martilla').  Mr. Toyer gave me permission to include his articles in my book.  He is a direct descendant of William Wald Glover, G.W. and Martilla's oldest son (and reportedly the first documented baby born in Dallas County.)

The first page I emailed to you (in the last message) is my own essay which cites information from 'The Peters Colony of Texas'.  There is another very old book - no longer in print - that references George and Martilla and purports to explain what happened to Martilla's first husband.  I can give you that information if you are interested in it.
