Will of William Bebat Written 19 August 1482 and Probated 1 October 1482 Hemley, Suffolk, England
As of Wednesday, 30 September 2009, there is no migration as Nanette Averett
thought as the place of the 1482 Will is Hemley, Suffolk, England, which is near
Woodbridge where our immigrant ancestor was christened.
This Will written 19 August 1482 and Probated 1 October 1482 is the only Will in
Suffolk County, England and takes our Bobbet family back two more generations
from the 1510 Will of Johannes Bobbbet in Ipswich, Suffolk, England.
Or, there is William Bebat of the 1482 Will and buried in Hemley, Suffolk,
England, his son John Bebat or Bobbet that is in his father's 1482 Will and
grandson Johannes Bobbet of his own 1510 Will and is buried in Saint Mary's
Churchyard, Ipswich, Suffolk, England.
Vona Williams of BYU and Family History Library in SLC and who Marsha met at a
BYU Family History and Genealogy Conference in 2001, helped with the names and
relationships of this Will written in Latin and abbreviations. William's wife is
Alice. sons are John [which means there is a son John and grandson which is
Johannes Bobbet of the1510 Will] , William, Roger and Robert.
As of Sunday, 20 Sep 2009, received email from Nanette and Eileen who studied
the 1482 Will with a lot of Latin words in it. And the town is Helmsley or
Hemley in Suffolk County and the Will was probated in Suffolk County and the
town of Waldringfield near Woodbridge is mentioned. As so many words are in
Latin, the ladies are going sometime to the FHL and hopefully get a
transcription from their BYU paleography teacher who works at the FHL.
Original 1483 Will of William Bebat of Hemley, Suffolk, England. Needs to be
transcribed. Nanette Averett can not transcribe a late 1400's Will, so Eileen
Sears will transcribe this Will.
At our 18 August 2009 meeting, Nanette said she could transcribe ths 1483 Will
and get the transcription to Marsha the end of August, but she cannot do it,
only a couple words. Eileen asked Nanette in front of George and I if she
could transcribe a 1400's Will. These Wills can be in Latin or in French.
Last week when Eileen Sears dropped by our house, I asked her to ask Nanette how
she is doing on the 1483 William Bebat Hemley, Suffolk, England Will
transcription. Marsha got this .jpg and .tif photo and an email from Nanette
on Saturday, 12 September 2009.

There is an update on the information of the 1482 Will of William Bebat of
Hemley, Suffolk, England on Wednesday, 30 September 2009 from Nanette Averett.
Marsha sent her reply to Nanette Averett, Eileen Sears and Keith Bobbitt.
Vona Williams, BYU instructor of 1500 - 1700 British Handwriting and who works
at the Family History Library in Salt Lake City, Utah, helped her student
Nanette.
This 1482 Will was written 19 August 1482 in Hemley, Suffolk, England.
This dispels Nanette's theory of a migration from Yorkshire County, England to
Suffolk County, England. There was no migration.
Waldryingfield is in Suffolk County, England, near Hemley and Woodbridge.
The 1482 Will was Probated on 1 day October.
Mentioned in the 1482 Will of William Bebat is his wife Alice, son John, son
William. and sons Roger and Robert.
Right now this 1482 Will is the only Will for that time in Suffolk County,
England and is a very strong possibility this takes our Bobbet family back one
more generation from the 1510 Will of Johannes Bobbet of Ipswich, Suffolk,
England.
The 1482 Will of William Bebat of Hemley, Suffolk, England has his wife Alice
and sons John, William, Roger, and Robert.
The 1510 Will of Johannes Bobbet of Ipswich, Suffolk, England has a brother
Thomas Bobbet that Robert gave land in Campesey or Campsea Ash.
So, 2 conclusions:
1. The father of the 1510 Johannes Bobbet with brother Thomas Bobbet is the
son John Bebat of the 1482 William Bebat Will.
2. The 1510 Will of Johannes Bobbet of Ipswich, Suffolk, England would fit as
a GRAND CHILD of the 1482 Will William Bebat.
This takes us back 2 more generations.
