Uriah and Polly Bobbitt lived in Amherst County until about 1818. Their first child was Robert Roderick Bobbitt who was born on July 10, 1812. John Bobbitt father of Uriah, died in 1815 in Montgomery County, Virginia. John left some property and three slaves which must have been sold and given to his sons. Uriah and his family left Amherst County Virginia and moved to Lincoln County, Tennessee. In the 1820 census, the family was counted in Lincoln County.

The records show that Polly had to be born between 1790 and 1794. She was probably born in 1793 and was 18 when she married the 30 year old Uriah Bobbitt. The record indicates that Joseph had been married and lost his first wife and child as he was listed as head of his own household with no wife or children.
Roderick Bobbitt who was born in 1812 is at home with his parents. Two additional sons were born between 1820 and 1830. No additional daughters were born. One daughter is married or deceased. The two additional sons were Augustus Tentamous LaFamous Bobbitt born in 1826 and Alfonzo Bobbitt born in 1825.
Uriah and his family moved from Tipton County, Tennessee to Leake County, Mississippi. They moved about 1832 or before 1834.
Polly (Alley) Bobbitt died in Mississippi in August 1834.
