When Mariah J. Bobbitt died the only children living were, James, Virgil, Eliza, Elijah, Eli, Randolph and Mariah. Mariah died in December of 1848 and the next year was a census year. The children were taken by various members of the family. The 1850 census is very interesting in that it shows the various children living with the brothers and sisters of John Bobbitt in nearby counties. We do not know who took Mariah. John went to Kenton County to live with his brother Gazner Bobbitt. The family was counted Sep. 13, 1850
