land in Raleigh in 1827 from Alice Price, and that he sold land to Maria Stuart in 1830.

Drury Bobbitt Senior and his eldest son John Bobbitt were very close. When the family faced financial ruin in Warren County they moved to Moore County about 1813. The census records of 1820 in Moore County list Drury Bobbitt Senior, his son John Bobbitt, his grandson, Drury Bobbitt Jr. son of John, and grandsons, Thomas and Green Bobbitt, sons of Sheerwood Bobbitt.

Green Bobbitt who was married in 1813 would be listed in the census records under his own family name but was not counted anywhere in North Carolina in 1820 as a separate family. He was listed in the family of his father, John Bobbitt in Moore County.

John Bobbitt:

1 male 10 - 16 (1804-1810)         3 females under 10 (1810-1820)

1 male 26 - 45 (1775-1794)*        1 female 10 - 16 (1804-1810)

1 male 45 & over ( -1775)            1 female 26 - 45 (1774-1794)*

                                                  1 female 45 & over ( 1775)

*These are members of the family of Green Bobbitt. John Bobbitt was born in 1762 and was 58 when this census was taken. Mary Bobbitt his wife was born in 1764 and was 56 when this census was taken. We know that none of the females born between 1810 and 1820 were daughters of John and Mary (Hazelwood) Bobbitt. At this census taking the family of Green and Barbara Bobbitt consisted of three daughters born between 1813 and 1820. One was Matilda Caroline Bobbitt born in 1814 and one was Malissa Bobbitt born in 1817. The other female is unknown and we do not think that she lived to maturity.

Green and Barbara Bobbitt moved with other members of their families to Maury County, Tennessee about 1829. They were counted in the census records of 1830 in Maury County.

Green Bobbitt:

1 male 5 10 (1820-1825)                               2 females 10 15(1815-1820)

1 male 30 40 (1790-1800)                             1 female 15 20 (1810-1815)

                                                                      1 female 30 40 (1790-1800)

Here the family is easily identified. Wiley P. M. Bobbitt born in 1823, Green Bobbitt born in 1791, Matilda Caroline Bobbitt born in 1814,-Malissa Bobbitt born in 1817, and Barbara (Finch) Bobbitt born in 1795. After this census was taken the entire family moved back to North Carolina, where their last child was born. Haywood Edison Bobbitt was born on July 10, 1832 in North Carolina (taken from his death certificate of May 9, 1916).

Malissa J. Bobbitt married Jeremiah W. Swaim in North Carolina and their first child, Andrew Swaim was born March 2, 1833 in Gleason, Tennessee. We are certain that Green and Barbara returned to Tennessee along with the Swaim and Montgomery families. The family was not counted in the 1840 census.
