The federal census of 1810 for Pulaski County lists only one Bobbitt family. I am certain that it contains the family of James and Rebecca Bobbitt as well as the family of Uncle James Bobbitt. The family seems to be listed under Uncle James.

James Bobbitt (brother of Captain William Bobbitt, James born 1748)

1 male under 10          1800-1810      John Bobbitt, born 1805

1 male 10 - 16            1784-1800      William Bobbitt, born 1797

1 male 26 - 45            1765-1784      James Bobbitt, born 1772

1 male 45 & over               -1765      James Bobbitt, born 1748

1 female under 10       1800-1810      Nancy Bobbitt, born 1810

1 female 10 - 16         1784-1800      Susannah Bobbitt, born 1801

1 female 16 - 26         1774-1784      Rebecca Day Bobbitt, born 1774

1 female 45 & over          -1765      Wife of Uncle James Bobbitt.

We do not know much about James Bobbitt born in 1748. We are not certain how many children he had, but believe that he had several daughters and all are by 1810, married and away from home.

In the 1820 census records of Pulaski County, the only Bobbitt family members are the family of James Bobbitt son of Captain William  and Nancy Bobbitt.

James Bobbitt: (born 1772)

1 male under 10        1810-1820    James L. Bobbitt, born 1817

1 male 10 - 16           1804-1810    John Bobbitt, born 1805

1 male 45 & over            -1775        James Bobbitt, born 1772

2 females under 10      1810-1820      Nancy 1811, Polly 1813

1 female 10 - 16          1804-1810      Susannah Bobbitt, born 1801

1 female 45 & over       -1775          Rebecca Bobbitt, born 1774

William Bobbitt: (born 1797, son of James and Rebecca Bobbitt)

1 male under 10                1810-1820      Joseph D. Bobbitt, born 1820

1 male 16 - 26                  1794-1804      William Bobbitt, born 1797

1 female 16 - 26             1794-1804      Permelia Cragg Bobbitt, born 1803

The dates of actual births are taken from grave markers in the Bobbitt cemetery of Pulaski County.

After 1820 the Bobbitt families of Pulaski County were joined by other Bobbitt families from Grayson County Virginia. Randolph Bobbitt was a nephew of James Bobbitt. Caleb Bobbitt was a brother of James Bobbitt. William Bobbitt was a nephew of James Bobbitt. There was also many relatives by family names other than Bobbitt living in the same general area and community.

The 1830 federal census records as head of households the families of Randolph Bobbitt, James Bobbitt, Nancy wife of Caleb Bobbitt, and John Bobbitt, son of James and Rebecca Bobbitt.
