"About 1852, Bales and Deniston entered into partnership and built, in Lynchburg, the best grist-mill that has existed in the township. The mill contained all the most improved machinery, and cost upwards of fifteen thousand dollars, The flour produced was of superior quality. The mill burned in 1862. Another mill has since been built on the same spot, by James W. Bobbitt, and now stands. It is not so large as the previous one.

"The first schools were held in a log school-house in the southern part of the town, on John Morrow's place. The house had been built a little before the town was laid out. A brick house owned by James P. Bobbitt now stands on the spot. (Lynchburg, Ohio).

"James W. Bobbitt was councilman for the village of Lynchburg."

Both were buried in the Lynchburg Masonic Cemetery in Highland County, Ohio. The age of James was given as 78 years 9 months and 9 days old. Margaret's age was stated as 85 years four months, 8 days. Several Bobbitt children are buried in the same cemetery.
